Emesis y quimioterapia. Papel de los antagonistas del receptor del neuropéptido neuroquinina 1

Los antagonistas del receptor de la NK-1 poseen propiedades antieméticas, antidepresivas y ansiolíticas, y supusieron un punto de inflexión en la prevención de las EIQ. El primer fármaco de esta clase fue aprepitant y representó el avance más significativo en la profilaxis de la emesis inducida por quimioterapia desde los antagonistas del receptor 5-HT3 a finales de la década de 1990. Posteriormente han aparecido fosaprepitant (formulación IV de aprepitant), rolapitant, netupitant y fosnetupitant (formulación IV de netupitant). Los antagonistas del receptor de la NK-1 están indicados en la prevención de la emesis inducida por quimioterapia altamente emetógena y moderadamente emetógena en combinación con un antagonista del receptor 5-HT3 y dexametasona.
